ASTROPICAL is the electrifying union of two of the most exciting bands in Latin music today: Bomba Estéreo & Rawayana. What was initially planned to be a one song collaboration quickly evolved into a full project, an upcoming international tour, and a brand new supergroup/ Its members are Bomba Estéreo’s Li Saumet and Jose Castillo on keyboards and guitars, joining forces with Rawayana’s singer Beto Montenegro as well as producer/drummer/multi-instrumentalist Andres ‘Fofo’ Story.
ASTROPICAL’s debut single – the wistful, irresistible “Me Pasa” – combines both bands’ devotion to tropical music, and their smooth sophisticated approach to rhythm and dance-floor atmospherics. Anchored on a sharp Afrobeats groove, the song shimmers to the sounds of sampled Andean flutes, an impossibly nostalgic guitar line, and the voices of Beto and Li.
