At 26 years old, Luísa Sonza has accumulated impressive achievements. The artist has over 3 billion streams on various platforms, ranks in the top 50 globally on Spotify, and has earned 7 diamond, 5 platinum, and 5 gold records. Luísa has just been nominated for the 2024 Latin Grammy Awards in the categories of Best Portuguese-Language Song with “Chico” and Best Contemporary Pop Album in Portuguese with “Escândalo Íntimo,” an album that has already surpassed 1 billion streams. Released in August of this year, “Escândalo Íntimo” earned the title of the most-streamed album on Spotify Brazil and positioned Luísa as one of the only Brazilian pop artists featured in the platform’s Global ranking.

Luísa also recently debuted a new show format for her “Escândalo Íntimo” tour on the main stage at Rock in Rio 2024, following the release of the Deluxe version of the album, which marks the final release for this era. This project includes collaborations with major national and international names, such as Jorge and Mateus, Belo, Simone Mendes, and international artists like La Cruz, Tokischa, and Troyboi, as well as the English version of “Chico,” an acoustic version, and an MTG of “Sagrado Profano.”

In May, four additional tracks featuring artists like Kayblack, Maiara & Maraísa, and MPB icon Caetano Veloso were released. The album broke records on Spotify Brazil, reaching 15.6 million streams in less than 24 hours after its release. Less than two weeks after achieving Gold certification, “Sagrado Profano” was certified Platinum, with over 40 million audio and video streams worldwide. Earlier this year, just days before her debut at Rock in Rio Lisboa, Luísa Sonza achieved her first #1 spot on Spotify Portugal with the track “Sagrado Profano,” featuring Kayblack. The song currently sits in the Top 200 Global, #1 in the Top 200 Brazil, and #1 in the Top 50 Portugal, and also reached #1 on Apple Music Portugal, #1 on YouTube Brazil, and #2 on Apple Music Brazil. Luísa also remains in the Top Daily Artist chart in Brazil and Portugal, with the album “Escândalo Íntimo” ranking 3rd on Spotify Brazil.

“Penhasco 2,” a track featuring Demi Lovato, reached the number one spot among the most-streamed songs on Spotify Brazil, making them the first two artists in history to debut a song with 2 million streams on the platform in the country.

Luísa Sonza also placed all the tracks from “Escândalo Íntimo” in the TOP 50 of the platform, with 6 of them in the TOP 10. Additionally, 3 songs entered the Global Top 200, with “Penhasco2” at position 41, “Campo de Morango” at position 140, and “A Dona Aranha” at 181. In Portugal, “Penhasco2” debuted at position 10, and “Escândalo Íntimo” became the highest debut of a Brazilian pop album. On Apple Music, the artist occupied the entire Top 18 of the platform, and “Escândalo Íntimo” was the most listened-to album. On Deezer, all tracks debuted in the Top 50, with “Penhasco2” at the top position.

Inspired by one of the most popular genres worldwide, Luísa Sonza’s bossa nova track “Chico” reached number one on Spotify Brazil and ranked 27th on the global chart. Overall, the track has amassed more than 83 million combined streams (video and audio) worldwide and earned the diamond certification in Brazil (when a track reaches 600,000 streams).

“Escândalo Íntimo,” Luísa Sonza’s third album, represents a more mature and conceptual artistic work. With 24 tracks, the project includes collaborations with renowned national and international artists, such as Demi Lovato, Marina Sena, Baco Exu do Blues, and Duda Beat. Reflecting a personal journey of the artist, the album, produced in Los Angeles, was enhanced by industry professionals such as Roy Lenzo, producer of albums like Montero by Lil Nas X, and Tommy Brown, who has produced hits for artists like Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, and Blackpink.

The artist’s new album also inspired a short film. Directed by Diego Fraga and written by Guilherme Ashcar, and adapted by Luísa herself, the short film “Escândalo Íntimo – The Movie” is narrated by the artist and tells a love story intertwined with the character’s journey of maturity.

Today, eight years after her first cover, Luísa has over 8.3 million subscribers on her channel, with more than 70 million followers across her digital media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Spotify, and TikTok). She is one of the most well-known artists in Brazil and has been reaching international success, recently entering Spotify’s Global Top 35 and gaining recognition on various international charts.

With over 31 million followers on Instagram, more than 11 million monthly listeners on Spotify, and over 2.2 billion views on her YouTube channel, Luísa is a strong advocate for women’s autonomy, freedom, and independence, aiming to achieve more equality and create space for discussions that drive real societal change.

The Brazilian pop star continues her new album tour throughout Brazil.

Previous Achievements

In addition to these historic and recent accomplishments, Luísa Sonza has other remarkable milestones in her career. Her second studio album, “Doce 22,” was one of the largest pop productions in Brazil. All 14 tracks debuted in the Top 70 on Spotify. Nominated for the 2022 Latin Grammy in the category of “Best Contemporary Pop Album in Portuguese,” the artist also participated in the Acoustic Sessions, a digital show by the academy, alongside other Brazilian artists presenting the classics of the legendary singer and songwriter Rita Lee.

“MAMA.CITA,” featuring Xamã, received a platinum certification in less than a month after its release. Born in Tuparendi, Rio Grande do Sul, Luísa is currently a highlight of Brazilian pop music and has been the most-listened-to female pop singer-songwriter and artist in recent years in Brazil.

Standing out more and more with performances that captivate both the audience and the media, Luísa was one of the highlights of Rock in Rio 2022, where she announced her next tour with an immersive experience, “The Tale of Two Worlds,” which premiered a teaser at the festival.

Three of Luísa’s other works have also reached high positions on the Brazilian Spotify ranking, even topping the Top Brasil chart. One year after its release, the remix “sentaDONA,” in collaboration with Davi Kneip, Mc Frog, and DJ Gabriel do Borel, accumulated over 300 million streams on digital platforms, becoming the sixth most-played song on YouTube Brazil in 2022 and the only one to appear in the Top 10. The song also became eligible for 5x diamond certification in Brazil for selling 1.5 million copies in the country.

The second, a collaboration with Baco Exu do Blues on the track “Hotel Caro,” topped Spotify less than 48 hours after the single was released. The third, the single “CACHORRINHAS,” was certified gold two weeks after its release. Alongside Luan Santana, the song “Coração Cigano” was an instant hit, reaching the second spot on the Top Songs Debut Global chart for the week, and has already garnered over 4 million Spotify streams, while its music video has more than 66 million views.

“DOCE 22” is Luísa’s second album, released in July 2021, and garnered more than 5.2 million streams in the first 24 hours of release. The project also saw the release of three subsequent singles, including “fugitivos :)” in collaboration with Jão, the track “Anaconda o ~”, featuring American artist Mariah Angeliq, and finally, the song “CAFÉ DA MANHÃ ;P” featuring Ludmilla. All of these tracks had music videos with creative direction by Luísa herself.
