Searows is the first signing to Matt Maltese’s brand-new record label ‘Last Recordings on Earth’. Searows self-made and self-released his debut album ‘Guard Dog’ last year, both to critical acclaim and to co-signs from the likes of Ethel Cain, Leith Ross and Gracie Abrams – the latter of which he is joining on tour later this year in the UK and Europe. ‘Older’, the first song Searows will be releasing on LROE, follows on from his best performing song yet ‘House Song’, and precedes an EP to be released this Autumn.
On starting a record label and signing Searows, Matt says,
“I’m incredibly happy to be starting a record label – something I’ve long dreamed of – and I feel very lucky to have partnered with a team like Communion. I had the privilege of getting to know Alec when we toured together last year, and found myself in awe of him both as an artist and person. I am honoured he will be the first last records on earth.”
On ‘Older’ Alec says,
“I didn’t know what ‘Older’ was about until I finished it, but in the end I think it’s about getting older and feeling too young and too old at the same time, and trying not to feel powerless in both those feelings. We feel powerless when we’re young, and also powerless when we start getting older and watching other people get older around us. Time never stops moving forward and its the best and worst thing about being alive.”
