trip9love…??? is the third album from Tirzah, produced by long-time musical partner Mica Levi.
A genuinely homemade record, it was recorded between Tirzah and Mica’s South London kitchens and living rooms in 2022/2023.
Describing the ingredients precisely you would say it’s a mix of pianos, distortion, drum loops and Tirzah’s romantic toplines but the resulting dish escapes definition. It’s more accurate to give trip9love…??? a domain than a genre and that domain is a lazy club fantasy zone.
Of one mood, pace and moment in time, it is 34 minutes of club escapism. And given that fact, Tirzah and Mica didn’t want the record split up or delayed so have chosen to drop the LP in full with no lead-in singles on Sep 5th.
Inspiration for the record stretches out endlessly but Scott Storch, Pi-erre Bourne, Morten Feldman and threads of Scottish/Irish folk are notable for their roles in what became a very unique sound. And lyrically it returns – as Tirzah often does – to love, both real and imagined.
Given trip9love…??? has its natural home in the club, Tirzah will be embarking on a series of intimate shows the week after release. Taking in London’s Colour Factory, Amsterdam’s OT31, Berlin’s Trauma Bar, Paris’ Badaboum & New York’s Knockdown Centre (amongst others) it will be a chance to experience the record as it was intended.
Visually the LP will be accompanied by two films from longtime friend and ally Dean Blunt. The first film will be released along with the LP and the second before Tirzah heads to North America at the start of October.
